REPORTS TO: Unit Director, Smythe Clubhouse

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt (8 hours per week)

Department: Operations

Performance Profile Source: Part-Time After School Van/Shuttle Driver

SUMMARY

Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley is looking for a Driver to transport students safely from school campus to our after school program. Driver responsibilities include daily transportation of students from school campus to our after school program; daily inspection and refueling, as needed; and coordinating cleaning and maintenance services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pick up of students from school on time and safely transport them to our program on a daily basis.
  • Conduct a daily vehicle (van) inspection prior to and after vehicle use.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean and organized.
  • Schedule regular car service appointments and report any issues.
  • Coordinate monthly car wash and detailing services with contracted vendor to maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of vehicle.
  • Maintain the safety of youth and appropriate staff.
  • Provide transportation services for special programs, events or field trips, as directed.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • A high school diploma
  • Must have a valid Class C driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50)
  • Familiarity with GPS devices
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Negative TB test
  • Mandated Reporter Certification prior to working with students
  • CPR and First Aid Certification prior to working with students
  • Background check clearance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish is strongly preferred

  • Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent standing and walking

Ability to speak and hear

Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds of school supplies or recreational equipment waist height)

Hear and understand speech at normal levels

Speak so that others may understand at normal levels

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provision supplies and equipment.

Work with staff on special events.

Other duties as assigned by the Unit Director.
