ORGANIZATION MISSION:

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast is to provide high-quality, out-of-school Club experiences to ensure our young people, especially those who need us most, are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for their future, demonstrate good character & citizenship, and live a healthy lifestyle.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast is looking to hire dynamic part-time tutors in St Petersburg. Tutors are responsible for providing children with educational support in order to ensure academic success.

This is a part time position, up to 15 hours a week, $31/hour.

Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the successful operations services, specifically focused on academic enrichment and remedial education
  • Plans and implements education programs, activities and services that meet Pinellas County School standards. Develops programs that are gender inclusive and sensitive to cultural diversity
  • Monitors tutoring sessions as to ensure all students are in accordance with what is stated on their Student Learning Plan (SLP). Ensure activities are in compliance with all policies and procedures
  • Communicates and enforces organizational policies, procedures, and standards with regard to program delivery, quality and fidelity. Provides administrative and logistical support for educational programs
  • Works closely with the Directors to contact the parents or guardians of the child to discuss report progress

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform diagnostic evaluation of participating youth
  • Complete Student Learning Plans and communicate with schools regarding performance
  • May be assigned other duties as requested by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS Degree from an accredited, four-year university or college in a field related to education
  • Teaching Certification
  • 3-5 years of K-12 school teaching experience with a valid teaching certification
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work collaboratively with partners and schools
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills. P.C. literate in MS Office
  • Ability to meet deadlines with time constraints
  • Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast; and the principles and practices of non-profit organizations
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and information and apply appropriate judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently without supervision; ability to make decisions independently
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, high level of professionalism and diplomatic etiquette
  • Above average interpersonal skills: ability to work with and through people at all levels to accomplish goals
  • Ability to retain information and utilize critical thinking skills
  • Must be a self-starter and demonstrate an ability to learn quickly
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
