Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida is Hiring an Accountant Near Orlando, FL

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Coordinates and compiles financial information (in conjunction with Manager of Finance) for the preparation of internal reports, financial compliance reports and grants billings.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

1. Review grants to ensure that BGCCF has clear understanding of required financial data tracking and that grants are fiscally compliant.

2. Develop and maintain systems that support the financial reporting requirement of the grant. Provide on-going orientation, training and feedback to staff.

3. Develop and maintain grant financial reports that are relevant and timely to help support management in decision making.

4. Develop grant administration policies and procedures in accordance with state, local and federal governments.

5. Perform various grant administrative functions such as billings, budget amendments etc.

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of grant billings and reports in conjunction with Manager of Finance and Senior Project Director.
  • Creates and maintains appropriate spreadsheets and documentation to support grant expenses.
  • Ongoing monitoring of grant budgets and expenditures to ensure targets are met.
  • Communicate relevant grant information with agency departments and all appropriate internal users.
  • Perform other duties, including but not limited to, general accounting, bank reconciliation, fixed assets schedule maintenance, payroll processing, etc. as necessary.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Develop and maintain positive relationships with operations staff.

External: Develop and maintain positive relationships with grant funders and establish protocols for communication between funders and appropriate staff.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

2. A minimum of two years' work experience in a not-for-profit organization with an emphasis on grant administration or comparable work experience. Experience with 21st Century Grants a HUGE plus.

3. Knowledge of grants and grant administration systems, processes and budgeting.

4. Experience with month-end & year-end close, financial and A-133 audits a HUGE plus.

5. Ability to analyze and systematically compile technical information and to prepare reports, comprehend and make inferences from written material; interpret federal, state and local government laws and regulations regarding grant contracts and administration.

6. Work effectively with a variety of staff and outside government representatives.

7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

8. Proficient in Word, Excel, and Blackbaud or similar ERP system.

9. Valid driver's license with good driving record and consistent access to a motor vehicle with appropriate insurance required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical requirements: The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Employee may occasionally be required to operate a motor vehicle. Work environment: Normal office environment.
