Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Counties is Hiring a Branch Manager Near Bel Air, MD

Start Date: Late August 2024

Reports to: Director of Traditional Clubs

Classification: Non-Exempt | Mid Management Level

Mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Job Summary: Directs and manages overall daily operations of a site with the primary concern for a comprehensive, outcome-driven program and service delivery. Also, supervises and trains staff (direct and indirect reports), handles personnel issues, manages facility, develops and manages a budget, actively engages and supports local schools in their community, and manages community relations, volunteers, and membership administration. Acts as the primary contact for the school(s) that are served at site.

Programming

  • Responsible for the annual planning of programs & special events at the designated site. Ensure BGCA programs are run, grant requirements are met and enrollment & ADA goals are achieved.
  • Special focus on 3rd-grade reading results are a must
  • Ensure the site staff are prepared for daily programs and are implementing activities during the hours of operation. A daily schedule is clearly posted and adhered to.
  • Ensure the Five Key Elements are memorized by team and are implemented in every aspect of club resulting in a club culture built upon the elements: safety, fun, relationship, opportunities & expectations, and recognition.
  • Plan for quarterly parenting event in accordance with the school/club.
  • Hold parent orientations before school starts to review calendar, expectations, and other important club information.
  • Expectations are reviewed daily with Club members.
  • All Club member meetings are held at least weekly and used for announcements, recognition, and upcoming events.
  • Every day, ensure all areas (including bathrooms) are cleaner when you leave than when you found them.

Resource Development & Financial Management

  • Ensures that the club resources are effectively used for mission-driven programs.
  • Ensures program compliance, data collection, and paperwork to meet the obligations on grant contracts. Generates status reports as requested.
  • Assist with grant applications and supporting documents when requested.
  • Implement, supervise and evaluate all programs and activities provided at program site, per the grant guidelines ensuring all objectives are met.
  • Responsible for successfully executing the programs including compilation of monthly reports, meeting attendance requirements, budget management and upkeep, and program evaluation per grant guidelines.
  • Participation in mandatory grant-related trainings (may include overnight travel).

Communication & Marketing

  • Use space designated by the site to have up to date bulletin boards that recognize club members with their names, pictures and accomplishments in a neat manner
  • Club shirts and name tags must be worn at all times. Volunteers need to have lanyards on when in the building.
  • A weekly newsletter is sent home to parents and given to teachers highlighting activities, pictures and upcoming events.

Staff Management & Supervision

  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, orientation, placement, evaluation, recognition, scheduling and training of all site staff members ensuring a team that produces results and is dedicated to the mission and values of the Club.
  • Part-time staff members must be evaluated in December and May.
  • Manage facilities during hours of operation and ensure a productive work environment, maintaining an inventory of all program equipment and supplies in good order. Recommend requisitions, as necessary.
  • Supervise assigned staff and volunteers during the program hours, ensuring that programs and plans are being implemented accordingly.

Provide Leadership

  • Establish Site programs, activities, and services that prepare youth for success and create an outcome-driven Club experience that facilitates achievement of youth development outcomes. Ensure a healthy, safe environment, with well-maintained facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Set an example of what is expected to members, staff, parents, and partners
  • Communicate and build consensus around the organization’s mission, vision, and core values and acts in a consistent manner.
  • Personally accepts responsibility for performance in the area of responsibility.
  • Follows through on promises and commitments.
  • Employee recognizes the value of both group and individual volunteers; is consistently accommodating to volunteers, and looks for creative ways to incorporate volunteers into their program.
  • Ensures stakeholders (schools, parents, members, the general public, staff, donors, volunteers) are raving fans of the Club, it’s programming and it’s members.
  • Adhere to organizational policies & procedures.

School Partnership & Relationship

  • Attend school staff meetings on a regular basis
  • Ensure quarterly teacher appreciation events at the site (food, thank-yous from kids, etc…)
  • Attend school activities including but not limited to new parent orientations, and open houses.
  • Collect from school mid and year-end MAP Scores, F & P scores. Ensure parents and teachers complete year-end surveys.

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • 3 Primary Outcomes: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character & Citizenship
  • College and youth development experience totaling a combined 4 years preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
