Drives minibus to transport Boys & Girls Clubs members from a school to various Club locations or field trips from the Club to the field trip locations. The Floater Minibus Driver will help cover the driving needs at various Clubs around Metro Atlanta when the regular bus driver is unavailable. Additionally, the Floater Minibus Driver will adhere to a timed schedule for pickup locations and inspect and maintain the minibus. Must be able to travel multiple routes throughout the week as routes may change daily based on need.

Prior to Driving

• Meet with Club leadership to understand the needs of the day.
• Review the organization’s transportation policy and procedure.
• Inspect vehicles for gas, oil, and water and correct safety hazards.
• Obtain and review routes.
• Complete the driver/vehicle checklist.

 Passenger Safety

• Practice safe driving by adhering to speed limits and local traffic regulations.
• Maintain order and discipline of club members.
• Serve as a role model for youth.

 During Driving

• Inspect the vehicle and reports safety hazards and maintenance needs.
• Complete Vehicle Trip Information Report.
• Serve as role model for youth.

After Driving

• Inspect vehicle and reports safety hazards and maintenance needs.
• Complete Vehicle Trip Information Report.

Vehicle Maintenance

• Ensure vehicle is serviced according to service schedule.
• Inspect vehicle daily for repair and maintenance needs; and takes action to resolve problems.
• Clean inside of vehicle daily; outside weekly if driving the same vehicle for the week.

 Other Responsibilities 

• Complete incident report on injuries that occur on the bus
• Report delays or accidents; complete required reports
• Assist program instructors when not driving or maintaining Minibus.

• Participate in training/educational opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.

Education/Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Must be age 25
• Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license.
  1. Must have a valid medical certificate.
  2. Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and pass testing done at random, post-accident, and for reasonable suspicion after employment. 
  3. Must have a CDL Class C valid driver’s license (and certify that a driver’s license only from one state is held and that license is not currently suspended, revoked or canceled in ANY state).
  4. Safe driving record as documented by a clean seven-year MVR.

Experience

• Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of three years where:
  1. Experience driving a vehicle to transport passengers, preferably in a van or minibus, in a city and urban environment required.

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to read and interpret written information.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to assist in program areas by giving and following instructions and supervising members in a safe environment.

Daily contact with club staff, club members, outside organizations and individuals to plan, coordinate and deliver programs. The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25 lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion. Travel to special events and field trips is required. Must be able to work daily afternoon/evening hours while supporting multiple club locations. Additionally, occasional weekend work is required to accomplish objectives.
