JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Director, a key member of the Club’s leadership team, oversees the day-to-day operations of a clubhouse in their assigned building, ensuring safety, high-quality programming, and an optimal club experience for youth. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Director plays a vital role in leading, managing, and directing the club's operations, with a focus on delivering exceptional service and outcomes for youth. This role involves employee management, community relationship building, financial oversight, and facility management. The Program Director creates a safe, enjoyable learning environment that fosters the growth and development of each member, preparing them for responsible adulthood. In the absence of the supervisor, the Program Director may assume management responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Take front-line accountability for delivering high-quality programs, including core programs, new initiatives, summer programs, staff development, and outcome measurement systems.
  • Train, monitor, and develop staff to ensure program delivery excellence. Directly supervise part-time program staff and program volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Teen Director to develop a cohesive club program strategy.
  • Regularly review and evaluate programming activity and impact. Implement action steps, review and update regularly, and make program improvements as an ongoing process.
  • Participate in network-wide shared learning and share experiences and learning with the BGCMA organization through collaborative and team opportunities.
  • Plan, develop, evaluate, and oversee implementation of arts, education, social recreation, health and physical education, computer center, and specialty programs that prepare youth for success.
  • Survey members’ interest in programs, track member participation and outcomes, and work with the Executive Director to plan and implement changes to improve results.
  • Develop monthly/quarterly program schedules and plans for implementation with program staff. Promote and market programs to club members using various methods.
  • Ensure designated year-round and summer programs meet objectives, member needs, and interests, are organized and engaging, and result in high participation.
  • Ensure programs are inclusive of all genders, abilities, and cultures.
  • Plan, execute, and collect program data to support measures and report outcomes. Prepare program reports as needed.
  • Monitor program delivery, work with program staff to plan and implement improvements, and communicate with club staff, members, and partner agencies to ensure understanding of program opportunities and plans.
  • Plan special events and field trips, ensure proper supervision, and complete necessary paperwork. Help plan and oversee implementation of opportunities to recognize club members.
  • Work with the Executive Director to handle crisis situations and resolve conflicts, disputes, and concerns of staff, club members, volunteers, and parents.
  • Ensure age and stage-appropriate programming that is relevant and passion-driven.
  • Align club program strategy with organizational program tracks and training framework.

TASSOLOULOUS CENTERS OF INNOVATION & EXCELLENCE (TCIE)

 JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain open and clear communication with TCIE leadership, sharing insights and feedback about participant’s progress, TCIE challenges, and successes during monthly feedback sessions. 
  • Attend weekly training sessions that will focus on staff practices as identified in the Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA) in preparation to serve as the Tassopoulos Centers of Innovation & Excellence host Club site.
  • Provide guidance and support to TCIE participants by allowing them to shadow and observe all essential job functions and accountabilities. 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Education

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, with preference for a degree in the arts, non-profit management, or similar field.

Experience

  • Minimum of three years building and leading teams with supervisory/managerial responsibilities 
  • Minimum of two years of professional and public experience in the arts or Creative Youth Development industry

Skills

  • In-depth understanding of non-profit organizations and Youth Development.
  • Experience producing and presenting high-profile and public artistic events.
  • Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Visionary and innovative thinker.

ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Community-based location that serves youth, families and community members daily. Frequent host site for organizational and communal meetings and events. Frequent contact with employees, contracted artists and partners, community-based organizations, families, Club members, and community members. Frequent travel to Club locations and community partners. Frequent deadlines. Atypical work schedule, including evening and weekend work. The position requires walking and climbing stairs; Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
