Brady Market is Hiring a Kitchen Supervisor Near Syracuse, NY

Position: Kitchen Supervisor
Location: Brady Market, 307 Gifford St, Syracuse NY 
Position Start Date: N/A
Reports to: Store Manager / Director 
Pay: Hourly, Full-time (35-40 hrs/week), Starting at $18/hr
Brady Market is a community grocery store located on the Westside of Syracuse, striving to offer opportunities for quality health and quality jobs in underserved communities through food. The store achieves this by employing, educating, and equipping individuals for success, increasing access to affordable and nutritious foods, and providing access to resources and support within the community. We employ an innovative combination of neighborhood support, strategic partnerships, and entrepreneurship. 
Scope of Position:
The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation and performance of the kitchen team. They ensure successful kitchen operations, quality customer service, proper food safety practices, and maintenance procedures. 
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise kitchen staff and ensure kitchen operations run smoothly and efficiently each day
  • Monitor and maintain adequate kitchen inventory levels of product and supplies
  • Ensure recipes and food preparation instructions are followed correctly
  • Monitor food quality and presentation
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained properly and in good working order
  • Prepare and cook items from an assortment of product from the grocery, produce, and meat departments
  • Ensure quality customer service from the kitchen team
  • Follow kitchen procedures to meet food safety standards and regulations
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
Required
  • At least 3 years of cooking experience, including in commercial/institutional kitchens, restaurants, or has cooked for a family
  • Experience task training and leading team members to accomplish goals
  • Proficient in English
Preferred
  • Experience supervising other team members
  • Conversational in Spanish
  • Has drivers license
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Cooking skills and experience with various ingredients and equipment
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management skills

Physical & Other Requirements:
  • Required to sit, stand, and walk regularly.
  • Required to use hands and crouch when moving product frequently
  • Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Required to work in freezer at 0oF and cooler at 32oF frequently
  • Must have access to timely and reliable transportation
Typical Work Schedule:
  • 35 - 40 hours/week, Monday - Sunday, Between 6 am and 8 pm
  • Able to work weekends
