Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. The Medication Aide will be responsible for assisting in the administration of medications to residents as ordered by their physician and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Medication Administration:
    • Administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and established medication policies and procedures.
    • Ensure accurate and safe administration of medications, following the "Five Rights" of medication administration (right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time).
    • Document all medication administrations accurately and in a timely manner.
  1. Assessment and Monitoring:
    • Monitor residents for any adverse reactions or side effects to medications and report to the appropriate healthcare professional.
    • Observe and report any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors related to medication administration.
  1. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for residents.
    • Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to adjust medication doses or treatment plans as needed.
  1. Resident Support and Education:
    • Provide assistance and support to residents with self-administration of medications when appropriate.
    • Educate residents and their families about medication-related information, including proper administration and potential side effects.
  1. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and facility policies regarding medication administration and recordkeeping.

Qualifications:

  • Certification:
    • Kansas Medication Aide Certification (CMA) is required.
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience as a Medication Aide in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication administration.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand, walk, and assist residents with mobility.
    • Ability to lift and move supplies and equipment as needed.
