Job Summary: DON Director of Nursing

  • Assume responsibility for direct technical supervision of the Nursing Department. Interpret operational policy and procedures and review work performance to determine conformance to recognized standards and merit salary determinations.
  • Makes recommendations for hire, fighting and scheduling decisions to the Executive Director, providing direct supervision and orientation of all nursing personnel or for delegating and supervising these duties.
  • Evaluate productivity, work efficiency, and professional proficiency of all nursing department members.
Assume responsibility for departmental related records, including but not limited to requisitioning of medical supplies and equipment, inventory systems, cleaning and maintenance schedule of nursing-related items, patient records, nursing hours, and patient reports.

Qualifications: DON Director of Nursing

  • EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited, approved school of nursing. Current registration with the State Board of Nurse Examiners. Advance preparation in administrative nursing techniques, including ward management and principles of supervision. Ability to speak, read and write english.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: At least two years of nursing experience, at least one of which has been in a supervisory capacity. Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice, including those basic knowledge related to nursing such as drugs, biological, physical, social and medical sciences and their application for better knowledge of patient care problems.
