Breakthrough Public Schools is Hiring a 2024-25 Flex Intervention Specialist Near Cleveland, OH

Breakthrough Public Schools (BPS) is seeking a Flex Intervention Specialist - Special Education Teachers for the 2024-25 school year. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Flex Intervention Specialist will respond to vacancies across our network and will not be assigned to a single campus. The individual in this position will adjust their instruction on a frequent basis in response to their changing assignments. They may spend one month as a second grade literacy and math intervention specialist and then 2 weeks later spend a week as the 7th grade math intervention specialist

For our Intervention Specialists we have a dedicated team that supports IEP writing and compliance to allow teachers time to plan, deliver and respond to instruction. IEP Writing and compliance is the primary responsibility of the Compliance Manager and NOT the Intervention Specialists. If there are no vacancies in the network then the Flex Intervention Specialist will be expected to support the compliance team with data collection/IEP development.

  • Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians, and coworkers.
  • Design and effectively deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction which reflects observations and goals of individual children.
  • Establish a classroom culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students.
  • Work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment.
  • Share best practices with other teachers and collaborate with them to improve instructional and assessment practices.
  • Facilitate regular parent/guardian communications and conferences to discuss student progress.
  • Collaborate with Compliance Managers on IEP development and process
  • Keep the classroom environment organized, attractive and safe.
  • Interact frequently and respectfully with students.
  • Provide targeted small group instruction to students throughout the day
  • Provide direct service to students to help them achieve their IEP goals
  • Work collaboratively with grade-level teams across content areas
  • Assist teachers with differentiation in the classroom
  • Collaborate as part of the student intervention referral team
  • Support with assessment of students as a proctor and monitor of examinations, including the administration of testing accommodations
  • Provide a range of instructional, management, and assessment strategies to meet the needs of exceptional learners
  • Manage a caseload of students with IEPs: to progress monitor IEP goals and services and respond to the data
  • Facilitate testing accommodations
  • Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, such as arrival/dismissal, hallway monitoring, substitute teaching, lunch and playground duty, or supervision of extracurricular activities
  • Keep accurate and organized records of student information
  • Actively engage in identity work and necessary conversations in order to dismantle white supremacy culture


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Experience:

  • 2 years of teaching experience preferred
  • Experience in urban setting strongly preferred


Licensure and Certification(s):

  • Valid Ohio Special Education license or in the process of obtaining a valid Ohio Special Education license


Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Passionate about urban education and working in communities that have historically been underserved and under-resourced
  • Experience providing targeted and individualized instruction to students with special needs
  • Exceptional level of patience and focus to overcome challenges, and achieve results
  • Exceptional communication skills: you shine in front of the classroom and through written and verbal communication
