Role Summary: We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented law student to provide essential support to our criminal defense practice as a Law Clerk. This is a part-time independent contractor position with a flexible work schedule of 20-30 hours per week based on your availability. The Law Clerk will work onsite in either our Ravenna or Cleveland office depending on proximity to their law school. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in criminal defense litigation under the mentorship of a seasoned attorney.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review discovery materials including police reports, witness statements, and video footage
  • Prepare concise memos summarizing key facts and identifying important evidence
  • Assist in drafting motions and other legal documents under attorney supervision
  • Provide litigation support including exhibit preparation and research
  • Observe attorney in court and client meetings to gain practical skills
  • Perform legal research and analysis as needed
  • Assist with office administrative tasks as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of 1 year of study at an accredited law school
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career as a criminal defense trial lawyer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sharp attention to detail, and highly
  • organized
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning new web-based tools and case management software
  • Self-starter able to take initiative and learn quickly
  • Desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and professional ethics

Compensation:

  • $20/hour minimum based on experience
  • This is a 1099 independent contractor position and does not include benefits
