Brevard Aid To Animals is accepting applications for veterinary assistants

Hours are Tuesday through Friday 6:30 am to 4 pm

Responsibilities will include:

• Assisting veterinarians in all routine and emergency patient care
• Determine patient needs by conducting client interviews, reviewing records and completing patient care plans, complete laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.
• Effectively maintaining and updating patient records
• Support patient exams by assembling required supplies , securing and bring the patients to exam room, restraining patients, provide assistance as directed, explain patient's status to client.
• People with a passion for the animal care field and a friendly service-minded attitude will thrive as assistants. Prior experience is required. The following skills are essential to getting the job done:

· Animal handing – confidence while physically handling animals is critical for this position. A major part of their role is patiently and securely working with animals.

· Cleaning and sanitation – excellent cleaning skills are a must for veterinary assistants who clean, sanitize exam areas and wash dishes

· Physical fitness – working as veterinary assistant has certain physical requirements, such as the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Veterinary assistants are typically on their feet for six to eight hours at a time and may have to lift larger breeds of animals

· Communication skills – listening to and communicating with a wide range of people is an essential skill that veterinary assistance must tap into as they work with clients and animals and quickly respond to coworker requests

• Dependable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.
