Position Purpose

Provide leadership for the organization towards fulfillment of its mission, vision and goals. Responsible for the management and leadership of the following function: finance. Direct operations of the departments in compliance with professional standards, government regulations and Brewster’s guiding principles, policy and procedures to assure that the highest level of quality services are provided. Report to the board of directors with recommendations for assuring the financial integrity and viability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

Directs day-to-day operations of all accounting and finance functions of The Congregational Home and The Congregational Home Foundation. Directs investments, financial reporting, cash flow management, budget preparation and budget compliance, continuous quality improvement, regulatory compliance, compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and standards of operational efficiency.

Serves as a member of the executive management team and participates in group decision-making concerning the overall operation of the organization. Actively participate in the planning process including the long-range plan and the annual business plan. Creates and implements a financial strategic plan yearly for the company.

Represents Brewster and participates in top level meetings with the governing board, foundation board and board finance committee. Represents Brewster to civic groups, vendors, governmental agencies and the general public.

Maintains professional competence and certification and keeps abreast of changes and trends in the retirement living and long-term care fields through attendance and participation in continuing education programs and industry conferences. Shares knowledge to assist with development of staff and board members.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree with CPA Certification or master’s degree

7-10 years leading a finance team

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in fields of finance, accounting or business related field

Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

Preferred non-profit experience

Preferred healthcare/long term care experience

Preferred experience with Medicare/Medicaid/other third-party billing
