Job Summary:

The EMS Revenue Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the revenue cycle within the EMS department. This role involves ensuring efficient billing, collections, and financial reporting processes to maximize revenue for EMS services. The EMS Revenue Manager will work closely with the finance team, EMS staff, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and optimize revenue operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Revenue Cycle Management:

  • Oversee the entire EMS revenue cycle process, including billing, coding, collections, and reimbursement.
  • Implement strategies to optimize revenue collection and reduce accounts receivable days.

Billing and Coding:

  • Ensure accurate and timely billing and coding of EMS services.
  • Monitor and audit coding accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Train and support staff on proper billing and coding procedures.

Collections and Reimbursement:

  • Manage the collections process to ensure timely receipt of payments.
  • Work with insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payers to resolve payment issues.
  • Analyze denial trends and develop strategies to reduce denials and improve reimbursement rates.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare regular financial reports on revenue performance, including detailed analysis of key metrics.
  • Monitor and report on trends in revenue, collections, and reimbursements.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management to improve financial performance.

Compliance and Regulations:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to EMS billing and revenue management.
  • Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and adjust processes accordingly.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to compliance standards and identify areas for improvement.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor the billing and collections team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and training to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, healthcare administration, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in revenue cycle management, preferably within EMS or healthcare.
  • Proven experience with EMS billing, coding, and collections processes.
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Traumasoft experience preferred

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of medical billing and coding
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in healthcare revenue cycle software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with regular hours; occasional travel may be required.
  • May need to work extra hours during peak times or to meet critical deadlines.
