**Position Summary**

The Quality Inspector will inspect Surlyn and Urethane golf balls to ensure conformity to quality control standards by performing visual and physical (touch) inspections for various defects.

**Responsibilities**

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Maintains safe, clean, and orderly workplace per 3S standards.

Identify and resolve minor mechanical and quality problems.

Responsible for performing regular quality checks as per SOP.

Visually examines and feels surface of finished golf balls to detect defects and remove them from good product inventory.

Identifies type and determines severity of defects by comparison against standard limit samples. Records totals by defect category.

Salvages balls, which would normally be classified as defective, by scraping or cleaning off light resin flash, surface dirt, or other foreign material which may be sticking to the ball surface.

Classifies and sorts of defective balls into B-grade or scrap inventories by determining severity of defect against standard.

Periodically reports inspection results and shows defects to unit line operator.

Identifies, counts, and records good product by unit line operator, ball type, ball number and lot number.

Maintains lot control system number sequence on all reports, forms, and tickets.

Inputs inspection data into database system.

Performs sorting, cleaning, and re-inspection of product from packing and inspection areas.

Maintains high productivity by working as a member of the inspection team to maintain zero to low quantities of uninspected balls in Unit Line, EX Line and staging areas.

Trains new teammates for the inspection area.

Notifies shift supervisor of any possible defect problems to keep defects to a minimum.

Submits daily production reports using a department computer.

Other duties may be assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS**

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurements, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with the ability to apply mathematical calculations to reach the proper recipe formulas and/or scale weight. Capability to convert Metric system measurements into American system of measurements or vice versa.

**REASONING ABILITY**

Ability to apply commonsense with understanding to provide detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to be flexible with problem solving and reach resolutions appropriately.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
