TITLE: Network Engineer

LOCATION: NE Denver / Aurora, CO – Hybrid 3 days WFH, 2 days onsite

COMPENSATION: $60-70 per hour

Overview

The Security Network Engineer’s primary responsibilities will be managing and interfacing with the organization’s MSSP and vCISO. This role will design, implement, monitor, and evaluate necessary controls and procedures to protect information system assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, destruction, or availability. They will participate in on-call rotation and incident response. The Security Network Engineer’s secondary responsibilities will include networking with understanding and application of networking concepts following best practices.

Responsibilities

• Holding the MSSP and vCISO accountable to their agreed upon SLAs and SOWs.
• Implement security measures to protect the organization's network and data from unauthorized access and threats.
• Review firewall configuration changes for security best practices.
• Conducting Internal and External pen tests.
• Perform regular audits and assessments of network infrastructure for compliance and security controls.
• Craft custom phishing exercise campaigns.
• Work closely with Systems and Desktop teams to identify security vulnerabilities and remediations.
• Communicating risk to the business with managers, directors, and board members.
• Develop and document network and security configurations, processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Manage vendor relationships and evaluate new security technologies or services.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours network and security support as well as emergency incident response.
• Coordinate with external partners or service providers for network and security related projects or issues.
• Configure and maintain network devices such as switches, firewalls, and access points.
• Troubleshoot network issues and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Security, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
• Sec or other security related certifications.
• 8 years of experience as a security analyst/engineer using vulnerability scanning and endpoint protection solutions.
• Solid understanding of vulnerabilities and Microsoft Windows OS.
• 3 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role within a fast-paced environment.
• Strong track record of staying current on networking technologies, protocols, and best practices.
• Demonstrated successful customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to Sr Management
• Competency in configuring and troubleshooting network devices from vendors such as Cisco, Meraki, F5 and Palo Alto.
