Bright Harbor is Hiring a Director of Recovery Services Near Austin, TX

About UsLast year, 3.3 million Americans had to leave their homes due to extreme weather conditions, and this number is expected to rise further due to climate change. Unfortunately, the current recovery systems are not equipped to handle such situations effectively.
Bright Harbor is a disaster recovery service that offers personalized support for our customers. Our digital tool and dedicated expert guide clients through the recovery process, helping them rebuild faster, easier, and with more confidence.
Our Mission
Due to climate change, the number of Americans forced to leave their homes because of extreme weather is increasing. However, our current recovery systems are outdated and inadequate. They were designed for a time when extreme weather events were rare and affected only a few people. The available help for recovery comes from government entities, nonprofits, and insurance companies. Navigating these bureaucracies is complex, frustrating and time-consuming and doesn’t even offer comprehensive solutions.
Our mission is to help people prepare and respond to climate change. We’re starting by simplifying the recovery journey for millions of people and bringing empathy to some people’s hardest moments.
Our Values
  • Empathy: We deeply understand the hardships our clients face after a disaster and strive to offer personalized support to help them rebuild with confidence.
  • Innovation: We continuously explore new technologies and strategies to improve our digital tools and recovery services, making them more efficient and effective.
  • Accountability: We take responsibility for the quality of our services and the satisfaction of our clients, always seeking to exceed expectations.
  • Collaboration: We work closely with our clients, government agencies, insurance providers, and other partners to ensure a seamless and coordinated recovery process.
What You’ll Do
We are seeking a dynamic founding team member to help shape and define workflows, processes, and the customer experience post-disaster. As our first hire, you will bring significant experience in catastrophic recovery, mitigation, and large losses to guide customers as they build a Recovery Plan and utilize our digital platform.
You will handle our first customers directly, providing a hands-on and personalized experience, and then hire and scale a team of Recovery Specialists dedicated to assisting customers during their time of need.
An ideal candidate has seen all sides of disaster recovery, including local, state, and federal government response, contractors and vendors, and insurance companies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Offer a highly empathetic and personalized customer experience.
  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive catastrophe recovery plans. Establish goals and milestones and help manage recovery expectations.
  • Assist customers in navigating vendors, relief organizations, government entities, and insurance companies to manage resources and adjusters in response to catastrophic events.
  • Share and drive adoption of our full suite of digital products, including:
    • Discovery, priority access, and management of contractors for remediation and rebuilding.
    • Discovery and management of temporary housing providers.
    • Discovery and management of other third-party vendors (estimators, appraisers, lawyers, adjusters, litigators, therapists, and real estate agents).
    • Discovery and submission for public and private grants and low-interest loans.
  • Scale and oversee a team of Recovery Specialists, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to handle recovery situations quickly and accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders internally to help build great products that solve our customer's needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies during recovery operations.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in disaster response, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Background in Property Claims, Emergency Management, or a related field.
    • We will also consider candidates with operations, customer success or customer service experience that have navigated their own catastrophic recovery journey.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and respond to catastrophe sites as needed.
  • Certification in Claims Adjusting or similar credentials is preferred.
Why work with us?
  • You have gone through the disaster recovery process yourself, or seen others go through it, and are passionate about helping to fix the process
  • The opportunity to learn from an experienced founding team
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits package including paid time off and generous holiday schedule.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
  • Dynamic and supportive work environment.
