Job Title: Senior Equipment Engineer

Locations: Durham, NC

Job Description:

We are currently expanding our client's team and are looking for a Sr. Equipment Engineer. At our client company, Engineers and Scientists have a passion for innovation to meet our clients' needs. Your primary role will be to manage projects for the design and specification of manufacturing and processing equipment, installation, and start-up of new plant equipment. You will also be responsible for providing guidance, support for the design, making improvements, and modifications of existing plant equipment.

What You Will Be Doing

  1. Manage equipment projects from initiation to close
  2. Work with engineers to develop designs and/or specifications for new equipment at the pilot and production scale.
  3. Determine facilities requirements for new equipment and either align with current or determine modifications/additions
  4. Write detailed scope of work for project quotation phase
  5. Create goals, deliverables, budget and timing
  6. Prepare Appropriation Requests and justification for capital purchases
  7. Support capital planning for capacity expansions through capacity analysis and cost estimation.
  8. Effectively manage project scope and changes
  9. Communicate project milestones to team members
  10. Ensure equipment receivers are fully informed and involved
  11. Ensure Maintenance practices meet requirements
  12. Provide supervision of trades and/or outside contractors on project and equipment related tasks
  13. Review and update documentation and drawings to "as built" status
  14. Research and recommend the purchase of new equipment that offers increased production or improved yields
  15. Suggest modification of existing equipment to increase productivity and reliability
  16. Assist with troubleshooting problematic equipment and offer solutions
  17. Pursue equipment safety projects
  18. Lead/facilitate Process Hazards Analysis reviews of new equipment and implement suggestions that are agreed to by team
  19. Identify cost reduction opportunities via equipment modification and/or the introduction of new technology
  20. Perform capacity analysis based on equipment throughput and recommend opportunities for improvement
  21. Collaborate with other departments to achieve goals
  22. Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

What You Will Bring

  1. BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  2. Minimum 5 years work experience
  3. Proficiency in Solidworks.
  4. Experience managing projects for manufacturing line equipment, both new and existing
  5. Experience working on equipment upgrades and new equipment.
  6. Experience developing equipment specifications.
  7. Experience generating and managing capital equipment budgets.
  8. General knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and PLCs
  9. Experience analyzing capacity of new and existing equipment and processes.
  10. Computer skills in Microsoft windows-based applications such as MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
  11. Experience using MS Project or equivalent.
  12. Team oriented individual with good communication skills.
  13. Demonstrated personal responsibility and dependability.
