Role: Behavior TechnicianThe Behavior Technician delivers person-centered and behavioral support to individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD), mental health diagnoses, and complex medical needs. This role involves direct assistance, supervision, and behavioral management, as well as teaching home and community-based living skills. The Behavior Technician promotes community participation and integration, fostering independence and joy for our clients.
Locations:
- Apple Valley
- Burnsville
- Brooklyn Park
- Provide direct support and supervision to individuals with IDD and mental health diagnoses
- Implement Positive Support Strategies and behavior management techniques
- Assist with home and community-based living skills
- Promote community integration and participation
- Monitor and interpret behavioral trends
- Manage crisis situations and daily events with sound judgment and decision-making
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with individuals exhibiting high behaviors (biting, hitting, kicking)
- At least 2 years experience with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and chronic medical conditions
- Proven experience in implementing Positive Support Strategies and behavior management techniques
- Skilled in de-escalation and restraint techniques
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Understanding of person-centered thinking and planning (preferred)
- Knowledge of vulnerable adult laws, 245D statutes, and state regulations applicable to HCBS
- Ability to pass a background check from the MN Department of Human Services
- Valid Driver’s License, a working vehicle, and a clean driving record
- Good attendance and adaptability
- Availability to work weekends for full-time status
