Ohio Pet Foods, Inc. is currently seeking an individual to work full time in our Quality Control Department at our Lisbon, Ohio manufacturing facility.

Quality Control Tech:

Nature & Scope:

The Quality & Food Safety Technician is responsible for capturing analytical, physical, and microbial data to help drive the decision-making process. This person collaborates with other departments to help drive consistency in product manufacturing and ensure that products meet the needs and expectations of Ohio Pet Foods’ customers.

Specific Job Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Collect & transport raw material and finished product samples to a lab for testing
  • Perform and record required quality checks throughout the production process.
  • Finished product moisture testing
  • Finished product water activity testing
  • Random date code checks
  • Random bag seal checks
  • Finished product bin release
  • Visual finished product kibble checks… per formula
  • Act as a backup to lab staff for raw ingredient and finished product testing
  • Support consumer complaint investigations by evaluating product and reviewing documentation.
  • Follow all Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Member of the Ohio Pet Foods food safety team;
  • SOP & SSOP development and maintenance
  • GMP development and maintenance
  • HACCP / HARPC
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Train new personnel
  • Communicating effectively with team leader and peers
  • Complete special assignments
  • Promptly communicate any non-conformance or incident during shift to the supervisor
  • Knowledge of bag line lead position
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent education
  • Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language
  • Successful completion of a substance screening and background check

Experience

  • Training will be completed on the job.
  • Previous lab experience or background in Food Safety or Manufacturing a plus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to cold and hot/humid temperatures within the plant, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
