Assistant Accounting Manager | Hybrid - Chicago | $110k - $130k Bonus

You will work closely with a team of accountants to manage financial functions including general ledger, monthly close, and financial statement prep. Our ideal candidate uses strong analytical skills to create detailed financial reports and forecasts. To succeed in this role, you should also have a problem-solving attitude and be able to manage a team.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly general journal entries, account reconciliations, and other accounting statements and reports
• Ensure that the general ledger is closed within the timelines of the company’s closing schedule
• Ensure that all financial statements are presented in accordance with GAAP and appropriate financial variance analyses are provided timely to management
• Review financial data and account reconciliations
• Review & approve SOX controls
• Assist in the continued development and documentation of SOX-related policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Assist in administering and enforcing all accounting policies and procedures
• Provide general assistance and support to the Accounting leaders by preparing ad hoc reports and financial analysis
• Provide, suggest, and support alternatives to work processes that will increase efficiencies and financial results
• Support the control and monitoring of change implementation to ensure change is being followed and is operating effectively
• Play a key role in general process improvements and process documentation for all facets of the accounting cycle
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
• Research variance root causes and determine action plans to improve financial statement or outlook accuracy
• Research various technical issues and draft memos for management’s review

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 4 years of relevant experience
• Public accounting experience is required
• CPA is preferred
• Know-how in risk controls and US GAAP compliance
