A telecommunication client of ours in Chicago (Downtown Loop area) is seeking an Interim Accounting Director / Controller to join their team (100% in office).

CPA License, Big 4 Public Accounting, and Large Public Company experience required!

Assist with various key accounting tasks and projects for the next 2 to 3 months. This position will report up to the general Office of the CFO structure with day-to-day responsibilities and reporting requirements as defined and delegated by the CFO. Role will assume global responsibilities for our accounting function, along with relevant areas of financial statement preparation, accounting process and policy refinement, management reporting, and tax / transfer pricing disciplines.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• A proven track record of working on managing complex, multinational accounting consolidations that are highly challenging and thrives on solving complex problems to drive timely, accurate, and reliable financial results
• Very strong knowledge of core accounting operations and willingness to jump into a complex/chaotic post-merger integration environment and provide high quality hands-on execution of tasks, problem solving, etc.
• Deep technical accounting skills coupled with the ability to translate to and from business stakeholders in support of continuity and relevance of financial statement preparation
• Adept at getting up to speed quickly and blending into the day-to-day operations of the accounting team and learn/adapt to ERP accounting system
• A pedigree of Big 4 and/or blue-chip companies with high levels of accounting standards and credentials or reputation in the marketplace (known names)
• Skills at the Director/Controller level, but willing to perform Accounting Manager day-to-day work

GENERAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:

• CPA required
• Finance or Accounting Degree required
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Big 4 public accounting or other large, multi-national firm required
• 7 years of relevant accounting and finance industry experience
• Supervisory experience
• Deep accounting expertise, along with strong Excel and data management skill
• Strong financial analysis capabilities
• Ability to work in office 100% (Downtown Loop)
• Strong communications and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of NetSuite is not required but would be very helpful.
• Software licensing experience is not required but would be highly attractive.
