General Summary: Participates in design, implementation, and integration of database engine or independently performs complex database development tasks related to records management and automation. Assists all phases of software systems programming applications. Evaluates new and existing database engines.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Work effectively as a database developer within cross-functional, agile teams.
2. Design and develop custom database application capabilities using PostgreSQL and Oracle
3. Extract, transform, and load data using custom scripts
4. Program in PL/pgSQL and/or PL/Python.
5. Tune SQL queries for better performance.
6. Build database validation scripts to be used with CI/CD pipeline.
7. Diagnose/debug faults in complex services or distributed systems.
8. Support application team with database needs.
9. Create production data modification scripts.
10. Maintain data dictionary using Toad Data Modeler.
11. Perform work under continuous deadline pressure.
12. Identify and script automatable problems, test and perform work with efficiency in mind.

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in science or related field.

Experience Requirement: Minimum five (5) years of experience working with large databases.

Other Requirement(s): This position requires U.S. Citizenship or a Green Card holder and the ability to obtain and maintain a Government public trust level security clearance. For a candidate that is a Green Card holder, they must have lived in the United States for at least three out of the past five years prior to your application date. You will also meet the residency qualifications if you lived abroad while on government or military duty or if you were a dependent of a federal employee of military member.

Performance Requirements:

1. Experience in creating and maintaining database objects such as tables, indexes, views, synonyms, complex object types and collections
2. Ability to develop function and procedures in PostgreSQL.
3. Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with customers and multi-cultural teams.
4. Ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines.
5. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
6. Ability to communicate (verbally and written) in English, in a clear, concise manner.
7. Database development experience with Oracle.
8. Experience with Database tools such as PGAdmin, DBeaver, SQL Developer, TOAD
9. Knowledge of scripting languages (Bash, Python) for development and automated testing.
10. Experience with advanced data types in PostgreSQL, especially data manipulation functions for JSON objects.
11. Experience working with AWS cloud-based services and tools, especially experience with RDS.
12. Experience with automated database deployments with Jenkins.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

Work Environment: Work performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with staff and customers.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Manual dexterity for office machine operation; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies, mobility to complete errands or deliveries. Must be able to remain in stationary position for extended periods of time. Stress can be triggered by multiple demands and deadlines.
