Groundskeeper

Overview:

As a Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall appearance and functionality of outdoor areas within a multi-family residential property. Your role will involve performing various tasks related to landscaping, grounds maintenance, and exterior upkeep to enhance the property's curb appeal and ensure a safe and pleasant environment for occupants or visitors.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are currently seeking an experienced Groundskeeper for a property in the greater Indianapolis, IN area.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, and pruning to ensure lawns, gardens, and green spaces are well-maintained.
  • Plant, water, fertilize, and weed flower beds, shrubs, and trees to promote healthy growth and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the property.
  • Remove debris, litter, and fallen leaves from sidewalks, parking lots, and common areas to maintain cleanliness and prevent hazards.
  • Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools such as lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and pruners in safe and working condition.
  • Inspect irrigation systems, sprinklers, and drainage systems regularly to identify and address issues such as leaks, clogs, or malfunctions.
  • Assist with snow removal and ice management during winter months using snow blowers, shovels, and de-icing agents to ensure safe pedestrian and vehicular access.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks on outdoor structures, fences, benches, and signage as needed to uphold safety and functionality standards.
  • Monitor and report any signs of pest infestation, disease, or plant damage to appropriate personnel for timely remediation.
  • Collaborate with property management and maintenance teams to coordinate landscaping projects, schedule maintenance activities, and prioritize tasks.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while operating equipment, handling chemicals, and performing outdoor tasks to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Provide assistance and support during special events or property inspections as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of landscaping principles, techniques, and equipment operation.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and practices related to landscaping and grounds maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
