Position Summary

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the YWCA Greater Flint will play a key leadership role in executing the organization’s mission and strategic goals, building and strengthening internal relations with and among employees, the Board of Directors, and advisory committees.

The CEO will serve as the lead fundraiser, public face, and spokesperson for the organization who develops and maintains strong relationships with community leaders, key stakeholders, funders, donors (current and prospective), and civic, political, and elected leaders.

The CEO will oversee organizational operations, ensure effective strategic planning, systems, processes, and accountability, strengthen financial stability, cultivate donor relations, coach and develop staff, and guide the organization to achieve a significant and measurable impact in fulfilling the YWCA mission.

YWCA Greater Flint is part of a strong national network of YWCA organizations dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Serving the greater Flint, Michigan area, including the communities within Genesee County, Michigan, YWCA Greater Flint is one of five YWCA organizations in Michigan.

YWCA Greater Flint is endeavoring to become an anti-racist organization committed to practices and programs that create systemic change and improve the lives of those who have been historically marginalized. The organization is currently focused on three organizational priorities: Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Women's Empowerment and seeks to develop and offer new services and programming in the areas of racial justice and gender equity.

What We Do

YWCA Greater Flint aims to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

The YWCA is one of the oldest and largest women’s organizations in the nation, and the YWCA Greater Flint has been serving the community since 1908 offering varied services based on the evolving needs of women and children. Throughout our history, programs and services have been at the forefront of addressing the most pressing social issues, and today our primary focus is on three organizational priorities:

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program

The YWCA Greater Flint is the only county provider recognized by the State of Michigan that offers comprehensive services and crisis intervention for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Women's Empowerment Center

The Women’s Empowerment Center, located on the 2nd floor, provides women and girls from Flint and Genesee County with a place to gather, share stories and experiences, explore and learn, and develop new skills to pursue life goals.

Racial Justice and Gender Equity Programs

YWCA Greater Flint anticipates a future where the new leader collaborates with the board, staff, and supporters to develop programs focused on racial justice and gender equity, aiming to fully realize the YWCA's mission.

Required Must Have's

•Proven commitment to anti-racism, restorative justice, equity, and anti-bias practices, with a successful track record of implementing policies and practices within an organization and the ability to create and sustain an inclusive culture of belonging

•Seasoned expert with extensive experience in nonprofit management and fundraising; oversees all aspects of the organization's operations, including human resources, finances, programs, and facilities

•Serve as the public face of the YWCA, advocating for its mission and priorities, building relationships with stakeholders, and representing the organization in public forums. Ability to build relationships with community partners, government agencies, and other organizations to leverage resources, collaborate on projects, and advocate for social change

•Prioritizing clear and inclusive communication with the team members and community partners, fostering collaboration internally and externally to leverage resources and build positive relationships

•A visionary and a strategic leader who can articulate and implement a clear vision for the organization. The ability to understand the foundational systems within the organization, identify gaps, and strategically fill them

•Experience leading, coaching, nurturing, and enhancing the development of team members and creating a positive culture of belonging and continuous learning and professional growth.

•A leader with a growth mindset who listens well, shows empathy, humility, and compassion, and can engage people from diverse perspectives

•Savvy networker who is comfortable being the face of the organization, representing its values and mission with authenticity and integrity, and can connect with decision-makers and restore the organization's external visibility

•Experience working closely with a Board of Directors to advance board development and engagement, develop strategic direction and plans, provide regular updates on the organization's activities, and ensure compliance with governance policies and procedures
