Position Title: Director of Youth Ministry
Position Status: Part-time (approx. 20 hours per week)
Position Summary: The Director of Youth Ministry guides youth and families into a deeper love for Christ. The Director serves as the principal animator and organizer for all youth programming, events, and activities at Broadway Christian Church. This person recruits leadership and volunteers, develops, implements, plans, prepares and executes: a weekly youth group, Sunday School, mission trips, lock-ins, and all special events that serve the youth throughout the year. The Director of Youth Ministry works in collaborative partnership with church staff and is an integral member of the Faith Formation Team. The Director shall seek to foster a strong youth program through building relationships with youth, parents and church leaders that strengthen the youths’ commitment to the church and growth in faith in Jesus Christ.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate, promote and implement youth programs in the following areas: youth involvement in worship services; youth Sunday School for grades 6-12th; seasonal events such as mission trips, lock-ins, rites of passage, local service projects, fellowship building activities, Vacation Bible School, blessing of the backpacks, trunk or treat, youth involvement in church-wide festivities, etc.
- Recruit and train required volunteers to meet education program requirements of the church (at least 2 non-related adults with each group of youth); distribute a volunteer schedule that accounts for substitutes as necessary
- Ensure with the Office Administrator that background checks have been completed for all youth ministry volunteers
- Coordinate with the youth music director to provide the necessary support for youth choir offerings
- Communicate youth ministry praises and concerns frequently with the pastors, staff, youth ministry team, and the congregation; be an advocate for youth within all areas of Broadway Christian Church, meeting with youth ministry team once a month or as needed
- Develop a youth ministry strategic plan that supports the mission and vision of Broadway Christian Church
- Maintain records, supplies, and youth spaces
- Participate in the preparation and development of the budget for the youth ministry
- Communicate regularly with the Coordinator of Communications to ensure all website and social media posts are updated with current youth programming and events
- Be pastorally present to families and youth and relationally engaged in the life of the church
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Leadership experience in Christian education programs for youth; broad knowledge of youth development and spiritual formation
- Experience instructing and managing groups of youth of varying ages and abilities
- Proficient in standard computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office, Google Office Suite, video conferencing technologies
- Familiarity with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or willing to grow in familiarity
- Committed to the mission, vision and values of Broadway Christian Church
- Available to work Sunday nights and weekends with required Sunday availability from 8:30 am-12:30pm and an additional 2 hour window for weekly youth group

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
