Job Responsibilities
- Gather proposals, construction drawings, and specifications
- Provide accurate detailed estimates for all projects
- Review construction documents and understand the scope of work to bid
- Prepare cost analysis by examining material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs occurred in heavy industry projects
- Utilize cost methods and data to submit estimates in a detailed breakdown format suitable for use by the project manager and the project team
- Must have the ability to explain details behind each estimate, including the basis of the man-hours allocated for each task, personnel resources needed to execute each task, etc.
- Flexibility when assessing & bidding multiple projects with the end result of either handing off or executing those projects
- Maintain lines of communications between company departments, project manager, and client with regards to cost estimating activities
- Work directly with individuals in the field offices as well as the other departments of the Corporate office to provide support
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, quantity surveying, or related field
- 3 years in commercial construction, cost estimating or project management experience
- Ability to read and understand architectural/construction drawings and determine the scope of work from those drawings
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Projects, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat), organizational skills, time management, problem solving, accountability, data entry and attention to details are necessary
- Works well in a fast-paced industry
