With the support of a SLP, SLPA's will provide individual screenings or assessments of language, voice, fluency, articulation, or hearing at children's homes or during group programs. The Brockton Early Childhood Intervention Program is a public health program that provides therapeutic support to infants and toddlers who have developmental delays or are at risk for such delays. The goal of the program is to help children as soon as possible so they can reach their full potential. Services include speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and skill development.

Must be a licensed SLPA (Speech and Language Pathology Assistant) in the state of Massachusetts. Must possess a valid driver's license in state of residence and have own means of transportation.

General Statement of Duties: Provide services to children with a wide variety of confirmed or suspected developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities: 

1. Provide individual treatment at children’s homes to address developmental needs.
2. Develop, write and implement IFSP goals in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
3. Provide training to staff and families.
4. Complete reports and progress notes as well as interpret reports to staff and families.
5. Actively participate in case conferences and in-service training.
6. Choose appropriate training materials.
7. Develop curriculum for group activities designed to enhance developmental skills.
8. Perform duties consistent with agency/program policies and procedures.
9. Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards. Universal/standard precautions must me utilized an training obtained in areas that constitute risk.
10. Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Qualifications:

• Must be a licensed SLPA (Speech Assistant) in Massachusetts.
• Must possess a valid driver's license in state of residence.
• Must have accurate or correctable auditory and visual abilities to observe children and maintain safety.
• On an infrequent basis, must be able to respond rapidly to safeguard children during an emergency including thereat of fire, disaster or imminent danger. Emergency response may require running, carrying or lifting children. Must be able to react quickly to prevent injury or harm to a child.
• On a moderate to frequent basis, must have the agility to move quickly to reach a child who may need assistance. Must be able to stoop, squat, sit or otherwise position self to closely interact with children. Must be able to bend, reach, stretch and participate in play
