Location: Brooklyn College Health Clinic (BCHC)

Full/Part Time: Full-time (Student-fee funded position)

Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am -7:00 pm

POSITION DETAILS

The Brooklyn College Health Clinic (BCHC) seeks a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP). The Nurse Practitioner will report to the Director of the Health Clinic. The Nurse Practitioner has considerable latitude for making independent decisions. The NP will provide primary health care for students, perform physical examinations, diagnostic tests, and execute corrective therapeutic interventions and/or treatments. The BCHC is a non-profit outpatient facility serving a non-traditional population of largely underinsured college students.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provides guidance and counseling and basic care during acute and chronic phases of illness.
• Provides a high level of medical and health care through consultation with physicians and other health care professionals.
• Provides and coordinates the delivery of a broad range of health education seminars and health care services, e.g. health education fairs, seminars on topics for promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and disability.
• Assist with implementing and managing awareness, educational, and preventive health services to students.
• Collaborate with community resources to provide health-related events and outreach activities to the college community.
• Collaborates with other health disciplines to ensure continuity of care. Provide adequate and appropriate transfer of information when patients are transferred to another health care provider.
• Document clinical encounters and relevant communication related to patient care in electronic health record (AthenaNet) in a timely manner.
• Counsels and teaches clients as to the nature and course of illness or disability, medication regimen, test or treatment procedures, etc.
• Provides psychological support to clients concerning health maintenance.
• Provide unbiased, evidence-based and support for students seeking PEP, PrEP and gender affirming health care. Furthermore, unbiased care shall be for patients seeking maintenance of hormonal treatment; examinations, and referrals as needed.
• Triage and evaluation of patient care needs.
• Provide immunizations and evaluation of treatment plans, physical assessment, and phlebotomy.
• Demonstrate evidence of continuous growth by regularly completing continuing education courses.
• Provides immunization, TB testing, epidemiological follow-up, etc.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree
• Certified Nurse Practitioner – Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)/(FNP-C)/ (FNP-BC) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ANCP) certified.
• Current and valid NY license
• Current DEA License
• Must be able to work Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 7 pm
• Proven interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications:

· Prior experience in a public health, health education or related field

· 3 years clinical experience in a primary care setting; prior work with adolescents a plus

· Demonstrated use of technology with Microsoft Office Suite, and health information management systems

· Ability to promote patient education and clinic outreach materials

SALARY RANGE

$80,000 - $110,000 based on experience
