Brooklyn Public Library is Hiring a Part-Time Flatbush Librarian Assistant Near Brooklyn, NY

The Part-Time Flatbush Librarian Assistant works as part of the branch team, under the supervision of the Assistant Branch Manager, and performs essential library work concentrating on technological services to enhance library operations. This position requires professional knowledge and judgment, including support with computer tasks and collection development and individualized needs (or other duties as assigned). This part-time position works up to 19 hours per week at $17 per hour.
The tentative schedule for the position is Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10AM-2PM, and 1030AM-230PM. Thursdays will alternate between 10AM - 2PM, and 1PM to 4PM, and Tuesday will alternate from 11AM to 2PM, and 1PM to 4PM, and some Saturdays, 10-2 for up to 20 hours per week. However, please note that the schedule is subject to change based on the branch's needs.
Assist in handling the collection HQ and circulations functions
Aid in navigating and reading inaccessible computer software such as Sierra
Other duties as assigned
Must be punctual for all scheduled shifts and assignments
Must have a high school degree or an equivalent
Must be personable, willing to work and excited to take on new tasks
Knowledge of Microsoft suite
Ability to learn new computer programs quickly
Creative in flier and advertisement development
Meticulous to detail
Adheres to deadlines and commitments
Great working with others
Able to work with diverse members of the staff and public.
