Brookside Charter School is Hiring an Extended Care Teacher Near Kansas, MO
Job Summary: The Extended Care Teacher will provide activities and teaching during the after-school hours. The Extended Care Teacher will be responsible for communicating with the Extended Care Director, teachers, instructional coaches, support, secretaries, and parents to complete tasks designated for Extended Care classes. The candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of duties and responsibilities in the assigned position. The duties and tasks will vary depending on the selected role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS
- Maintains a professional rapport and communicates effectively in writing, in person, and on the telephone with students, parents, guardians, school staff, support staff, school districts, and individuals visiting the school
- Maintains a professional rapport with staff, students, and parents/guardians
- Demonstrates sensitivity to needs of students, staff, and parents/guardians
- Maintains confidentiality of information regarding BCS
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Follow Extended Care plans and/or instructions provided by Extended Care Director
- Take attendance and turn attendance documents into the Extended Care Director
- Provided detailed information about class performance
- Assist other Extended Care staff as needed
- Assist with after-school cafeteria duties
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned including providing backup coverage to other school positions and assisting other BCS staff

Brookside Charter School opened its doors in 1956 as Brookside Day School, as an educational alternative in the Kansas City area. The focus has been: low student/teacher ratio, children are recognized for their individuality, a feeling of community, and a multicultural environment. Brookside Charter does not offer transportation; therefore, staff is able to communicate with parents on a daily basis, which keeps our community strong. When a child enrolls in Pre-K or Kindergarten, we recognize the importance of keeping that student in our school all the way through 8th grade. Brookside Charter began as a neighborhood school, but now, any child who lives within the Kansas City Public School (KCPS) boundaries can attend here. Our parents personal lives may cause them to move around, but as long as they stay within KCPS boundaries, their child can continue school here. Keeping a child at the same school may be more expensive for a traditional district, but as far as value for the child, its priceless.
