Data Engineer

San Antonio, TX or Plano TX (onsite 4 days a week)

12-month contract

Overview:

Our insurance client is looking to bring on a Data Engineer that has a familiarity with Java development to join their team. You will partner with other analysts across the organization to fully define business problems and research questions. Support SME's on cross functional matrixed teams to solve highly complex work critical to the organization. Integrate and extract relevant information from large amounts of both structured and unstructured data (internal and external) to enable analytical solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Gathers, interprets, and manipulates structured and unstructured data to enable analytical solutions for the business.
• Selects the appropriate modeling technique and/or technology with consideration to data limitations, application, and business needs.
• Composes technical documents for knowledge persistence, risk management, and technical review audiences. Consults with peers for guidance, as needed.
• Translates business request(s) into specific analytical questions, executing on the analysis and/or modeling, and communicating outcomes to non-technical business colleagues.
• Consults with Data Engineering, IT, the business, and other internal stakeholders to deploy analytical solutions that are aligned with the customer s vision and specifications and consistent with modeling best practices and model risk management standards.

Requirements :

• 2 Years data scientist minimum
• 2 years with ETL/DBT
• Snowflake experience is preferred
• Java API development preferred

Background Python:

• Knowledge of Structured Python (for Data Science/Analysis) & SQL.
• Gitlab CI/CD Pipeline & DevOps/MLOps for building ML or Data Pipeline, Deployment experience of Python code/app/ML Models in Docker images.
• Experience & knowledge of Data Warehouse & Distributed computing.
• Preferred: Data Science experience, Snowflake, Airflow, Domino Data Lab, Docker/Kubernetes.

Team:

You will be part of an agile team working on standard 2-week sprint cycles. You will be working with both Data and Analytic enablement teams and Enterprise Modernization groups. Highly collaborative and fosters a coaching/mentorship environment.
