Data Scientist - Initial 5 Month Contract
Initial 5 Month Contract, possibility for extension.
Location - On-Site, Downtown Houston, TX.
Pay Rate - $70 - $75/hour.
We are looking for a seasoned Data Scientist to join our Big Data and Advanced Analytics department. As a Lead Data Scientist within the Data Analytics team, you will collaborate with the Data Engineering team and various business units to tackle real-world challenges using machine learning, data science algorithms, and artificial intelligence.
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage data science and machine learning projects across various business functions.
- Identify and define data science and machine learning opportunities by thoroughly understanding business problems and opportunities.
- Gather, cleanse, and transform both internal and external data sources.
- Analyze data and provide insights through visualizations and dashboards.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain models and solutions that address business challenges.
- Present, explain, and justify the results of analyses and models, including the methodologies used.
- Engage in strategic planning discussions focused on optimizations, data science, and big data analytics.
Requirements:
- Over 5 years of practical experience in framing and solving business problems in supply chain, logistics, or operations using probability/statistics, visualization, and inferential or predictive models.
- More than 5 years of professional experience writing production code in Python.
- Proficient in software engineering, including best practices for software design, API design, design patterns, version control, and production considerations such as performance, logging, maintainability, refactoring, testing, and debugging.
- Hands-on experience with MLOps.
- Experience building solutions on AWS is an advantage.
- Educational background in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related scientific field is beneficial.
- Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
- Skilled at communicating insights and approaches in a clear, actionable manner.
