Position SummaryThe Human Resources Business Partner works with organization’s senior leadership to develop and direct a HR strategy that closely supports organizational goals. This person will operate as the Institutional business segment’s head of HR, ensuring that both HR strategy and the Institutional team’s strategy are closely aligned with business objectives and business needs. The role reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and is based in our Baltimore, Maryland office location.
Key elements of this role include the full spectrum of talent management processes (compensation strategy and program management, diversity strategy, performance management, leadership pipeline, manager excellence, colleague engagement survey analysis and program oversight, organizational design, and other annual processes).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Partnering with the Business Partners to advise senior stakeholders on people and talent management strategies required to support and enable business strategy
  • Facilitating and driving key annual processes including reporting and analytics on people-related metrics and trends and organization reviews
  • Executing against all people development processes for division including leadership pipeline, talent management, promotions, performance management, diversity, and year-end compensation
  • Partnering with the functional Human Resources team to ensure effective delivery of compensation, recruiting, training, internal transitions, and colleague relations issues
Responsibilities will also include:
  • Will serve as a true partner with the Institutional business heads, driving key initiatives and people priorities for the Institutional business segment
  • Partner with the Human Resources functional groups (Diversity & Inclusion, Benefits & Wellness, Compensation, Learning & Development, Recruiting) on seamless Human Resources services for managers and colleagues
  • Engage effectively with business leaders and colleagues in all aspects of the talent cycle including new hires, transfers, development programs, talent reviews, promotions, compensation, and offboarding
  • Serve as a strategic compensation partner to the business; analyze market data, internal colleague, and investment performance, and manage the annual compensation lifecycle
  • Serve as the first point of contact for colleagues regarding Human Resources-related requests. Answer routine questions from colleagues about employment procedures and policies, benefits, and other HR-related topics
  • Partner closely with colleagues and managers on colleague relations matters
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions, programs, and policies (i.e., analyze the results of the annual colleague engagement survey and provide recommendations to the business regarding how to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention)
  • Provide HR subject matter expertise on organizational design or other key organizational impacting initiatives
  • Design and execute on ad-hoc projects across the Human Resources function, such as the organization of events and internal training sessions and programs, as needed
  • Assist with Human Resources communications as needed. This includes the maintenance of the Human Resources page of the internal intranet (B|Advised)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Your education, technical skills, experiences, and abilities need to include:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant HR experience, in addition to a minimum of at least 3 years in a senior level HR role in financial services
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and employment laws
  • Experience illustrating tact, discretion, and good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Flexibility to work across a diverse range of projects (i.e., strong quantitative skills combined with aptitude for talent management initiatives) with different stakeholders
  • Demonstrated client service focus and ability to build relationships successfully
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to work in the Baltimore, MD office at least 4 days a week
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

We would also love to see but not required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
  • An HR certification (SPHR, PHR, SCRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, etc.)
  • Masters in human resources management or business administration
