Job Description: Facilities Engineer

Location: Midland, TX

The Opportunity:

The Facilities Engineer will evaluate and oversee the engineering work related to upstream oil and gas facilities, ensuring compliance with company specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves facilitating the effective execution of engineering and design routines specific to upstream facilities such as oil and gas processing plants, compressor stations, gathering systems, and other infrastructure critical to production and transportation. Strong technical abilities, along with sound communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, are essential for ensuring accurate and timely communication among team members and other company functions regarding engineering activities, progress, and issues.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Facilitate and Coordinate: Manage engineering technical work products for upstream facilities, including oil and gas processing plants, compressor stations, and gathering systems, ensuring alignment with project goals and operational requirements.
  • Communication and Coordination: Address various issues among the company’s and contractor’s engineering teams that affect the design, safety, and regulatory compliance of upstream facilities, focusing on specific components such as compressors, separators, and pipeline systems.
  • Evaluate Contractor Work: Review work performed by contractors and sub-contractors to ensure compliance with company specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements, including design drawings and documents specific to upstream facilities like gas plants and compressor stations.
  • Deviation Management: Identify, assess, and process deviations to contract technical specifications and regulatory requirements, maintaining the Deviation Control Log and ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
  • Technical Stewardship: Manage engineering queries and technical information requests from contractors and sub-contractors related to upstream facilities, focusing on detailed aspects such as piping, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
  • Progress Reporting: Keep the Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager informed of progress, deviations, and concerns in engineering work related to upstream facilities, particularly those impacting critical infrastructure.
  • Engineering Reviews: Participate in engineering reviews at contractor and subcontractor locations, focusing on detailed reviews of designs and specifications for upstream facilities, including compression and processing systems.
  • Capital Efficiency: Promote capital efficiency in the engineering design of upstream facilities, with a focus on optimizing the performance and cost-effectiveness of compressor stations and processing plants.
  • Support Initiatives: Assist with internal engineering initiatives and global practices as requested by the supervisor, particularly those related to upstream operations and infrastructure development.

Skills and Educational Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering specialty, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: Broad knowledge of design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria specific to upstream oil and gas facilities, including compressor stations, processing plants, and gathering systems.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, with excellent technical and business communication skills.
