Position Overview

The Information Technology Support Specialist performs analytical, technical, and administrative work in the planning and installation of new and existing personal devices and workstations; diagnoses and resolves problems in response to reported incidents; confers with end users to determine types of hardware and software required; installs new hardware and software and maintains existing components; trains end-users in the use of equipment and software; performs general maintenance tasks; troubleshoots and resolves issues with user devices and peripheral equipment located throughout the organization; Website, web applications, and social media development for the front and back-end of websites.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Installs, modifies, and makes minor repairs to computer hardware and software systems.
  • Resolves tickets representing staff-generated technical requests or problems and troubleshoots technical and process issues to maintain productivity.
  • Maintains system functionality by testing computer components.
  • Maximizes computer systems capabilities by studying technical applications and making recommendations.
  • Tests compatibility of new programs with existing ones.
  • Build and optimize secure web pages and social media platforms for evolving business needs.
  • Provide continued support for web sites.
  • Perform routine site audits, as well as ongoing maintenance, on an as-needed basis.
  • Confirms program objectives and specifications by testing new programs, comparing them with established standards, and making modifications.
  • Installs software and necessary applications for workflow.
  • Trains users on new software in person or through a variety of tutorial channels, including self-guided training videos, user manuals, and digital instruction pages, often in collaboration with technical writers.
  • Maintains system capability by testing computer components.
  • Carries out software, network, and database performance tuning.
  • Keeps up to date on technical advancements by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
  • Prepares reference material for users by drafting operation instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of networking principles and operating systems.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Requirements:

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

  • Associate degree or above in computer science, information systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Programming languages HTML 5, JavaScript, C#, C , SQL and .Net
  • Prior experience working with websites, social media, IT Helpdesk, or similar technical function.

Physical and Cognitive Demands Requirements

This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 15 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, standing, walking and reaching; work has standard vision requirements; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Work requires the ability to maintain a high level of cognitive function and concentration to perform detailed analysis and execute critical thinking.
