Job Summary:
The Supervisor II, Laboratory (Lab) (Auto Chemistry) is responsible for supervision over multiple functions which may include: oversight of laboratory testing for core lab, monitoring the workflow from sample processing to departmental workflow through results reporting, and may provide for day-to-day guidance on teammate performance. This position evaluates and monitors compliance with service guarantees and specimen quality requirements. Position ensures adherence to corporate standard policies and procedures related to job performance, customer interactions, teammate relations, and information confidentiality. This position reports to the Manager, Laboratory (Lab).
Essential Responsibilities:
- Making sure all team members follow rules and quality standards.
- Developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies.
- Providing guidance and support to teammates in training and competency programs.
- Monitoring performance against set targets and identifying areas for process improvement.
- Leading the team by resolving organizational challenges and fostering a positive work environment.
- Assisting in the professional development of teammates through coaching and mentoring.
- Managing various aspects of team employment, including hiring, promotions, and evaluations.
- Maintaining thorough records of team performance and handling evaluations and time off requests.
- Delegating tasks effectively and planning staffing to optimize productivity.
- Resolving operational and quality issues and ensuring coverage during teammate absences.
- Actively participating in quality improvement and safety programs within the laboratory.
- Collaborating with other leaders to develop procedures and ensure compliance with regulations
Experience:
- Minimum of 6-8 years experience as an Medical Technologist/Supervisor
- Clinical lab experience
- Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, biological sciences or related field
- FL Supervisors license in Chemistry
- Certified by a professional laboratory certifying agency (i.e. ASCP, AMT)
- People/Team leader, and builder
- Technically inclined
- Willing to work the bench
