About Buchanan Capital Partners

Buchanan Capital Partners (BCP) is a commercial real estate investment firm in Austin, TX. BCP makes equity investments across multiple asset classes, including ground-up development and acquisition of multifamily, industrial, office, retail, and raw land entitlements. BCP's Principal, Keith Buchanan, has a proven 18 year track record of successful investing in commercial real estate, primarily in major Texas metros. The firm’s growing team brings a wide array of expertise across the real estate ecosystem.

BCP is currently seeking a Director of Finance and Operations. The Director of Finance and Operations will work directly with the company’s Principal, while overseeing all aspects of financial management as well as the ongoing operations and procedures of the company. The ideal candidate is task-oriented and proactive with strong accounting experience and excellent written communication skills. The role demands a detail-oriented and technical mindset that can manage and prioritize a multitude of tasks across current real estate projects, strategic company initiatives, investor correspondence, and team-related responsibilities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE

  • Manage all accounts payable/receivable and oversee all cashflow in and out of the office. Develop and maintain highly detailed spreadsheets in order to streamline cash management processes. Facilitate cash management transactions, including wire transfers, capital calls, check requests, and ACH/EFT.
  • Track all project development costs in order to complete monthly draw requests, and provide property-level accounting support to the Asset Management team.
  • Work closely with BCP’s third party accounting team to maintain tight financial management and generate accurate financial statements.
  • Engage with internal and external parties to offer support and information (high net worth investors, investment sales and leasing brokers, lenders, property managers, tax advisors, attorneys, appraisers, etc.)
  • Develop a working knowledge of Buchanan Capital Partners’ investment platform, to communicate key investment dates, openings/closings, minimums, and tax treatment.
  • Onboard new client relationships, including opening investment accounts, account funding and transfers. Manage ongoing account administration.
  • Construct and maintain client reports, including quarterly investment performance reviews.
  • Respond to clients’ requests regarding relevant account information, including tax information (1099’s, K-1s), account statements, etc.

OPERATIONS

  • Assist with overall team management and oversight, including onboarding of new employees.
  • Handle various administrative duties to ensure efficient office operations.
  • Responsible for the general functionality of the office, including providing coordination and accounting assistance to the Principal and ensuring the organization and stocking of common areas.
  • Oversee subscription and delivery services for supplies and essentials.
  • Provide ad hoc support on client teams when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university, an accounting or finance degree is preferred, CPA is ideal.
  • A minimum of three years prior accounting, finance and/or client service experience within real estate or financial industries, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • An inquisitive and motivated personality with excellent communication skills
  • Very detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently present information and interface with Acquisitions and Asset Management leads and company leadership.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently and work well in a group setting.
  • Integrity and strong work ethic with a desire to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment and grow with the company.
  • Candidates with references will be prioritized.
