Job Summary
This position is at our Valley View Charter Montessori School in El Dorado Hills. Work hours are 5 hours per day (9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.) Monday through Friday during the school year. (Work hours on Wednesday's are 9:00 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. - 4.25 hour per day)

Under general supervision, the Playground Monitor is responsible for the maintenance of safety and conduct of student during passing, recess, lunch, and playground time as assigned.

POSITION: Cafeteria/Playground Monitor

DIRECTLY REPONSIBLE TO: Principal/Assistant Principal

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under general supervision, the Cafeteria/Playground Monitor is responsible for the maintenance of safety and conduct of student during passing, recess, lunch, and playground time as assigned.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervises and seats students during lunch period.

2. Supervises students in the corridors, on the playground and in the restrooms as assigned.

3. Stresses to all students safe standards of behavior according to school rules and regulations.

4. Reports immediately any flagrant violation of school rules to the site administrator.

QUALIFICATION:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

-general needs and behavior of children at age level being supervised
-school rules and regulations
-games children play
-basic first aid

ABILITY TO:

-learn quickly the procedures, functions, and limitations of assigned duties
-understand and carry out oral and written directions
-establish and maintain effective relationships with adults and children
-channel children into activities as needed

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in working with school age children effectively is desirable.

EDUCATION:

High School graduate or equivalent desirable.
