Summary The Associate Buyer will work directly with all aspects of the buying process, including frequent vendor follow-up, vendor interaction at monthly markets, in-depth reporting and daily recommendations and preparation for Buyers.Must show independent thinking, high levels of teamwork, initial levels of leadership and supervision.Active decisions in buying process in conjunction with respective Buying Team and management.

- Travel to the stores for regular visits to network with the team and review product.
- Communicate with vendors/sales representatives on the approval and buying process.
- Travel to necessary markets and competing retailers to shop trends in preparation for product buys.
- Select product and provide input for the placing of buys for respective categories.
- Able to see samples on a Fit Model, transfer fit information to an Excel spreadsheet and relay information to vendors.
- Regularly review and follow up with on-order product.
- Provide input on allocation processes.
- Able to express ideas for product while considering all aspects of the buying process.
- Provide actionable input on Buyer's selling reports.
- Provide styling ideas and suggestions on new developments and create designs.
- Express leadership within the category team, by setting the pace as well as collaborating with the team to accomplish tasks and projects.
- Possess knowledge of all reports, compliance issues, store distribution and evaluation of product flow for specified brand, category and/or department.
- Possess an understanding of scale analysis.
- Apply industry knowledge and understanding of time and action calendar in an effort to benefit the business.
- Maintain professional communication and work closely with internal Teammates and external business contacts.
- Fulfill mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Provides day-to-day leadership on Team projects within Men's Merchandising Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training Teammates, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Teammates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Buckle store experience is strongly preferred.

The ability to travel by flight or motor vehicle including overnight stays. Ability to operate a motor vehicle for up to 6 hours.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the Teammate regularly works in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
