Buffalo County, WI is Hiring a Recycling Coordinator Near Alma, WI

Buffalo County is hiring for a full-time Recycling Coordinator to work out of our site located in Mondovi, WI.


Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this position is the supervision of the collection and preparation of single-stream recyclable materials for transport to the County’s contracted recycling processing facility, and general administrative responsibilities to maintain program operations.


Essential Duties:

  • Schedules, coordinates, picks up and delivers roll off boxes for collection of recyclables at participating County municipal sites
  • Reconciles and approves invoices to be paid for the department.
  • Assists in the external billing process and the administration of applicable permits.
  • Supervises and trains other recycling employees.
  • Assists local site attendants with questions as needed.
  • Operates and maintains equipment that is required to move recyclables and to plow snow.
  • Monitors and assures procedures are being followed in a safe manner at recycling sites.
  • Completes annual recycling reports, budget submission, and grant applications.
  • Coordinates and attends Recycling Committee Meetings
  • Reports complaints, non-compliance issues, hazards, etc. to direct supervisor and assists in resolving issues.
  • Reviews participating municipality contracts on an annual basis.


Minimum Training, Experience, and Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Valid driver’s license with CDL with a Class A endorsement
  • Experience with operating a commercial vehicle with hydraulic systems is preferred
  • Forklift and skid steer experience is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of recycling guidelines is helpful.
  • Must be able to operate a computer at an advanced level.
  • Must be proficient at basic math.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate equipment and machinery such as trucks, hydraulic systems, skid-steers, forklift, and tractors with some requiring complex and rapid adjustments.
  • Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing slightly skilled movements.
  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort to heavy work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 200 pounds.
  • Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of shapes, sounds, and objects associated with job related objects, materials, and tasks.
  • Ability to sustain prolonged visual and mental concentration.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and non-verbally with others.


Compensation:

This is an hourly non-exempt position starting at $25.66 per hour.


Work Hours:

This position will work core hours of 6:00AM to 4:00PM Monday through Thursday.
