Chief Strategy Officer

Bullish is looking for a Director, Treasury and Trading Operations to support the trading and asset management activities. The activities will encompass digital assets, traditional fiat assets and investment instruments. The role will manage all aspects of daily treasury and trading operations with responsibilities on trade lifecycle management including operationalization, trade settlements, reconciliations, and reporting.

This is an onsite role based in the Bullish office in New York and involves working closely with the global trading operations and treasury teams located in the US, Caymans, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Gibraltar.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Balance Sheet and liquidity reporting along with group liquidity management
  • Partner with the CFO, management team and business development functions. Ensure deal structures are fully operationalised
  • Develop, monitor and manage the treasury and trading counterparty relationships including banks, custodians, trading venues, lending & managing assets and market data providers. Tasks include initiation and ongoing relationship management including administration, account openings, updating mandates and performance monitoring
  • Publish briefing papers for investment committees and boards including working with cross-functional teams to implement action plans post-investment committee meetings to ensure company objectives are achieved
  • Lead daily operational support including clearing and settlement with counterparties in accordance with legal agreements including ISDAs
  • Work with the Financial Control team to manage invoicing and collection of rewards and yield from counterparties on a regular schedule
  • Research and evaluate yield generation opportunities, conduct risk assessments to determine business impact and recommend investment thresholds
  • Design effective internal controls and operating model to ensure audit and regulatory standards can be met
  • Be accountable for work being executed in line with governance requirements, policies and procedures, effective internal controls and standard operating procedures
  • Provide key middle-office support for asset management activities such as maintaining the trading infrastructure and liaising with counterparties to resolve operational issues
  • For new initiatives, counterparty relationships or deal, work collaboratively and in a coordinated manner with relevant teams in the organization including Security, Risk, Compliance, Custody, Legal and Finance to ensure that relevant required due diligence is completed
  • Provide reporting and analysis to management including P&L, risk, fees, interest and various relevant trading metrics
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders such as Finance, Legal, HR, Marketing and Operations to ensure seamless operations of activities.
  • Perform project-specific financial forecasting, analyze financial data, provide liquidity risk assessment, and create financial models to facilitate senior managements’ decision making.
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls relevant to the Treasury and Trading Operations function, as well as ensure compliance with internal policies & procedures and statutory requirements
  • Support Finance teams with the month end process where appropriate.
  • Additional reporting responsibilities related to group assets, risks and liquidity to ensure senior management has access to timely and up to date information

Experience & Qualifications

  • Master’s of Business Administration or Master’s Degree in in accounting, finance, economics, or engineering
  • In depth experience gained through multiple economic cycles in middle office, trading operations, or treasury role or in payment companies/banks institutional crypto financial services firms with demonstrable leadership experience
  • Experience leading digital assets treasury management at significant scale
  • Strong knowledge of digital assets, financial markets, derivatives, and risk management
  • Capable of navigating a dynamic organization where priorities can change frequently
  • Operated with a high degree of ownership and executive interaction, presenting to executives and the board, write descriptive briefing papers and handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Understand trade lifecycle of traditional and digital asset financial instruments
  • Possess a passion for the digital asset industry, a proactive approach to learning, and a keen interest in staying up-to-date with the latest trends and developments
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage through ambiguity and prioritize effectively
  • Team player with the ability to communicate and collaborate with multiple parties across geographies and time zones
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English is required
  • Intermediate to advanced computer software skills, including Excel and basic coding is a plus
  • “Can-do, make it happen” attitude
  • Prior experience within financial services/asset management in control function roles is advantageous
