Bureau Land Management is Hiring a Rangeland Management Specialist. Near Indiana, PA

Duties
  • Serves as the Bureau expert and user representative on technical matters related to the administration of the Bureau's grazing management information technology systems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the BLM’s rangeland management software systems at a level where technical help can be provided across BLM to a broad spectrum of users.
  • Serve as the Bureau expert on the Range Land Management program and the guiding principles including statutes, laws, regulations, handbooks, and manuals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the BLM regulations used for grazing management and demonstrates knowledge in the application of the software systems the BLM uses to manage them.
  • Work with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knowledge about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

For The GS13In addition to meeting the education requirement, you must possess (1) one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level of GS-12 in the federal service. Specialized experience at this level is defined as demonstrated knowledge and experience in the areas of Rangeland Management related to interpretation and implementation of Policy; a recognition and connection to the legal program direction in the Range program; operational knowledge and experience to the relational databases and program management systems; field related experience as a senior specialist such as processing permits, communication with Range users at all levels and negotiating conditions and terms.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
Physical Demands: Work is generally sedentary. The incumbent is required to operate a government passenger vehicle as an incidental driver to perform work.
Work Environment: Work is performed in typical office settings. Trips to other offices or field locations and training sites are required. Although office activities predominate, work may on an infrequent basis involve being out-of-doors in inclement weather, in locations with extreme heat or cold, and other conditions such as dust, wind, etc. Adherence to established safety measures is required.
Education
Education Requirement: This position has a positive education requirement which requires you to meet the following:
Rangeland Management, GS-0454A degree in range management; or a related discipline that includes at least 42 semester hours in a combination of the plant, animal, and soil sciences, and natural resources management, as follows: Range Management -- At least 18 semester hours of course work in range management, including courses in such areas as basic principles of range management, range plants, range ecology, range inventories and studies, range improvements, and ranch or rangeland planning; Directly Related Plant, Animal, and Soil Sciences -- At least 15 semester hours of directly related courses in the plant, animal, and soil sciences, including at least one course in each of these three scientific areas, i.e., plant, animal, and soil sciences. Courses in such areas as plant taxonomy, plant physiology, plant ecology, animal nutrition, livestock production, and soil morphology or soil classification are acceptable.; Related Resource Management Studies-- At least 9 semester hours of course work in related resource management subjects, including courses in such areas as wildlife management, watershed management, natural resource or agricultural economics, forestry, agronomy, forages, and outdoor recreation management.
  • OR- Combination of education and experience with at least 42 semester hours of course work in the combination of plant, animal, and soil sciences and natural resources management shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
