Duties
  • Analyze and examines extremely difficult, complex, or controversial titles cases.
  • Independently plan, organize, conduct research and analyze legal documents pertaining to each specific case workload.
  • Evaluate alternatives, documents all necessary information based on legal decision of record, and prepares a titles status report.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance on legal and real property matters involving heirship, ownership, land status, etc.

QualificationsEXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions, GS-0901.
GS-11: I have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sector). This experience must include but is not limited to performing work on complex probate cases utilizing knowledge of real and personal property, legal principles and legal documents governing probates of Indian trust and restricted lands, and the examining and maintaining of title ownership data for use in the distribution of trust income to beneficiaries Bureau-wide.
OREducation:I have at least 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or LL.M., if related, in an accredited college or university, in a field of study related to this position that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: Graduate education must be related to the occupation and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

The full performance level of this position is a GS-11.
This is a supervisory position. Under provision of the Civil Service Reform Act, first-time supervisors are required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period before their appointment becomes final. Those who do not satisfactorily complete this probationary period will be returned to positions of no lower grade and pay than those they occupied before assuming their supervisory assignment.
TELEWORK: Indian Affairs has determined that the duties of the position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
As a incidental motor vehicle operator position, you may be required to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle in the performance of duties; therefore, a valid driver's license is required and be able to meet the safe driving requirements of the Bureau of Indian Affairs
