Description
The Business Analyst will play a key role in the Application team within the Information Technology (IT) department located onsite at Burns & McDonnell’s World Headquarters office in Kansas City, Missouri. This individual will be tasked with analyzing IT systems, identifying and documenting needs from both business and IT stakeholders, and leading the development teams’ day-to-day activities through Agile processes. The Business Analyst is an expert communicator, detailed planner, and has strong problem-solving skills. This is a business-facing and technology-facing role, requiring excellent communication and organization to create alignment amongst multiple business practices.
Act as a liaison between the business stakeholders and technical delivery teams translating concepts into language that is easily understood by both parties.
Develop a fundamental understanding of your team’s technical systems and your business stakeholders’ processes.
Elicit user and technical requirements for new initiatives and ad hoc requests from multiple internal business practices.
Document requirements and technical details with clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
Determine scope of requests and identify possible development iterations to unlock greatest client value.
Prioritize and sequence backlog with an understanding of dependencies related to roadmap.
Facilitate various agile team ceremonies such as standups, refinement, planning and retrospectives.
Measure and monitor development team’s process efficiency and velocity.
Communicate project status with stakeholders and others throughout IT.
Ensure projects stay on track towards deliverable commitments, occasionally completing trade-off analysis to influence product decisions.
Coordinate technical implementation, testing, training and communication efforts with multiple internal business and IT groups, as well as external vendors.
Act as an ambassador for the product and as the primary contact for queries related to the product.
Apply critical thinking to troubleshoot issues quickly and effectively.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, or related degree from an accredited program.
Minimum 4 years technical business analysis experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of agile development methodology and practices
Understanding of technical terminology, preferably experience in CRM & Power Apps
Strong facilitation skills for meetings and stakeholder workshops
Project management experience preferred
Experience with Azure DevOps or other agile software a plus
