Buro Happold is Hiring an Electrical Energy Engineer Near Edinburgh, IN
Got a flair of the complex? Buro Happold's Energy Consulting team are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our vibrant and friendly team. The role will be a mix of hybrid and working from either our London, Bath, Manchester, Leeds or Edinburgh office. Here at Buro Happold expect the exceptional Our UK Energy team sits within Buro Happold Cities and contains over 50 engineers, scientists, geographers and commercialisation consultants. The team work throughout the project lifecycle from national scale spatial energy system analytics through to detail design of some of the most innovative district energy and smart grid installation. The team is split geographically across London, Leeds, Manchester and Edinburgh. The London office has over 20 energy team consultants with a great range of grades, professional backgrounds and expertise working on local, national and international projects. Required Skills
Degree level, or equivalent, in electrical/power systems engineering or related discipline
Demonstrable expertise in electrical system design typically in medium voltage (MV) levels with low voltage (LV) interfacing
Skills including a track record of successful project delivery for a range of client types
An understanding of the interface requirements of electrical systems in low carbon system design e.g., storage, renewables, low carbon heating, demand side response, electric vehicles and energy efficiency
Ability to apply systems approach to complex problems in the energy and built environment sectors
Ability to manage themselves effectively across multiple projects including project and programme management skills
Experience of working in client facing roles.
Ability to interpret client requirements and follow instruction from project leaders and project directors.
Strong numerical analysis and modelling skills
Experience liaising with third party and internal stakeholders including organising and leading workshops.
Familiar with network modelling and energy system modelling techniques
Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate technical subjects to technical and non-technical audiences; confidence in presenting to external audiences.
Initiative and ability to work autonomously
Strong problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to remain calm when working to tight deadlines.
Desirable skills
Project management for delivery of projects.
An appetite to develop external relationships in the industry.
Experience of utility providers systems and applications process.
