The Burrillville School Department is seeking candidates certified as a School Psychologist. Candidates must hold RIDE certification as a School Psychologist to be considered for this position. Please read the following job description for position requirements and responsibilities.TOWN OF BURRILLVILLEBurrillville School DepartmentPosition DescriptionTitle:School PsychologistSupervisor:Building Principal/PPS DirectorDepartment:School DepartmentGENERAL PRUPOSE:The School Psychologist will provide support to students to help them succeed academically, socially and emotionally while considering Rhode Island Regulations and the vision of the Burrillville School Department. School psychologists will collaborate with educators, parents and other professionals to help create safe, healthy and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home and school. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:As Guided by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services School psychologists possess the knowledge and skills to provide a broad range of services to students, families, and schools, including: 1.Data-Based Decision Making and Accountability: Analyze data, including social emotional, behavioral, and psychological assessments, to identify student strengths and needs and to aid in developing effective services and programs. 2.Consultation and Collaboration: Consult and collaborate with colleagues, students, families and other professionals to promote effective implementation of services.3.Interventions and Instructional Support to Develop Academic Skills: Provide guidance in regard to biological, cultural, and social influences on academic skills/learning, cognitive, developmental processes, and evidence-based curricula and instructional strategies. 4. Interventions and Mental Health Services to Develop Social and Life Skills: Conduct individual and group counseling services with students focused on evidence-based strategies to promote social–emotional functioning and mental health. 5. School-Wide Practices to Promote Learning: Promote school-wide learning and mental health through systems including response to intervention and positive behavioral interventions and supports. 6. Preventive and Responsive Services: Support multi-tiered prevention and strategies for effective crisis response. 7. Family–School Collaboration Services: Collaborate with families to enhance children’s learning and mental health, including providing referrals for outside resources as needed. 8. Diversity in Development and Learning: Enhance services and address potential influences related to diversity through knowledge of individual differences, abilities, disabilities, and other diverse student characteristics.9. Research and Program Evaluation: Understand research and interpret data in applied settings with knowledge of research design, statistics, measurement, varied data collection and analysis techniques, and program evaluation. 10. Legal, Ethical, and Professional Practice: Practice in accordance with ethical, legal, and professional standards. 11. Demonstrates the ability to assume all other responsibilities as might be assigned by the Building Principal/PPS Director. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1.Rhode Island certification as a School Psychologist2.Conceptual, interpersonal, and social skills necessary for position performance3.Demonstrated commitment to the implementation of high standards for all students4.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff5.Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with parents in the support of students6.Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development to ensure that knowledge and skills remain current.
