Senior Electrical Designer/Drafter

Location: Beaumont, Texas

Burrow Global seeks a highly skilled Senior Electrical Designer/Drafter with extensive experience in the EPC environment or the oil and gas industry, particularly in medium and low-voltage design. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in electrical design and drafting and a deep understanding of industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in the development of electrical design deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and calculations, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards, with a focus on medium—and low-voltage systems.
  • Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings, schematics, and layouts for electrical systems and equipment, incorporating medium and low-voltage components.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to coordinate electrical design activities and ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines, particularly emphasizing medium and low voltage design requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers and drafters, including reviewing drawings for accuracy and adherence to standards, emphasizing medium and low voltage design principles.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction teams to integrate electrical design requirements seamlessly into overall project deliverables, focusing on medium and low-voltage system integration.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and API, and emphasize compliance with medium—and low-voltage design guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree in electrical engineering technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of overall electrical experience, including electrician, journeyman, or related positions.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical design and drafting, specifically within EPC projects or the oil and gas industry, focusing on medium and low voltage systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and equipment specifications, with medium- and low-voltage design expertise.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, API, and ISA, explicitly focusing on medium and low voltage requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing and mentoring junior designers and drafters.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
