The Butler Eagle, a family-owned morning newspaper in Western Pennsylvania located just outside Pittsburgh, is seeking an experienced writer/reporter with the ability to handle breaking news coverage and highlight trends and issues while covering the crime and courts beat. The ideal candidate will have the editorial judgment and strength to anchor the newsroom in the morning.
In addition to being a wordsmith, this role will require strong people skills, research skills and the ability to be consistent and accurate. This person should be familiar with social media and be willing to consider use of various mediums -- video, audio and photos.

to tell the stories of our residents, be their eyes at government meetings, cover courts and crime, and seek out the news that will make a difference in their lives.
This journalist will join a staff of eight writers and be a force in molding what news is presented in print, social media and the Eagle website. In addition to being a wordsmith, the position requires strong people skills, an ability to research topics, a social media awareness and the willing to try mediums as the Eagle develops its video, audio and photographic platforms.
