Meatbird Service Technician
Job Summary
Monitors the management, health status, performance, feed, and flock records to aid in producing quality products.
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities
· Maintains a positive company/grower relationship to motivate the grower to attain maximum results.
· Assumes responsibility for the health and performance of contract turkeys
· Records daily and weekly mortalities
· Records and verifies feed deliveries to contract facilities
· Instruct contract growers on best management practices
· Implements sanitation and disease prevention programs
· Performs routine necropsy on mortalities to monitor disease status of flock.
· Prescribes medication in appropriate dosage
· Inspects contract facilities to ensure their compliance with contractual agreement.
· Transports turkeys to Diagnostic Laboratory for disease monitoring and testing
· Completes and checks final flock file which includes feed conversion rates and medication cost.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
· Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
· Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited college or university with an emphasis of studies in Animal or Poultry Science; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
